Office: Room 158 Telephone: 980-343-5992 Office/Tutoring Hours: Tuesday 2:30 PM – 3:00 PM or By Appointment Course Description: This course is designed to introduce the concepts of programming, application development, and writing software solutions in the Visual Basic environment. Emphasis is placed on the software development process, principles of user interface design, and the writing of a complete Visual Basic program including event-driven input, logical decision making and processing, and useful output. Communication, critical thinking, and lifelong learning skills are reinforced through the completion of course activities. Work-based learning strategies appropriate to this course are internships, cooperative education, and apprenticeship. Skills USA student organization will allow the programming students to showcase the skills they have learned.

Examinations
Most examinations will consist of two parts; cognitive and performance. The final will be all performance. Dates for all examinations will be announced at least two classes in advance.
Attendance
Due to the interactive nature of the classroom environment, attending class regularly is essential to learning the material. Students will receive a failing grade for more that 10 absences. Naturally, you are responsible for material covered and announcements made during classes that you miss. When a student returns to school following an absence, the student must assume the responsibility for obtaining their missed work. Missed work must be completed no later than five school days after the student returns to school to avoid a grade reduction.

Classroom Rules for Conduct:
1) Be SEATED when the bell sounds.
a. When the bell rings you should be in your seat working else you are tardy.
2) Be RESPECTFUL
a. Of yourself, the instructor, your classmates and any visitors in the classroom.
3) Be PREPARED
a. When you come to class, be ready to go everyday, have your materials with you and be ready to learn.
